Kilternan Parish is a growing parish in the foothills of the Dublin mountains with over 300 families and dozens of groups, societies and volunteer teams. As well as offering a full range of vibrant worship services and faith formation opportunities, a community café, and a range of children and youth work and community activities.
Kilternan Parish is in the Church of Ireland Dioceses of Dublin and is part of the Anglican Community, a worldwide family or fellowship of churches. Many of our members have grown up Anglican, but many come from a broad range of traditions and Kilternan Parish is a home for a wonderful diversity of people.
The people of Kilternan have been worshipping in this building since 1826. As a church, we are both ancient and modern, ancient in that we cherish the traditions and insights of those who have gone before us, and modern in that we are always seeking to be relevant in the modern world.
At church, we are not once a week strangers, but the family of God. As such we need to develop the bonds between us. We do this when we break bread together, in church and outside of church. But we also seek to build community outside of ourselves as we embrace the community around us in Christ like hospitality.
How we worship is important, it tells the story of who we
are. At Kilternan we seek to offer a range of worship, cafe church, Messy Church and more as we seek to worship God in spirit and truth.
We are not called to bless ourselves, but to bless the world
around us. At Kilternan we hope to serve those in our community who need our
love and support. If you might want to get involved we have a wide range of volunteer
teams and ways to serve in the parish and the wider community.
We have a range of services on a Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings and mid-week. See our upcoming services on our calendar here.
There is no dress requirement and feel free to come as you are!
Coming to a new church for the first time can raise questions so for guidance in particular the Contemporary Service held three times a month at 9.45am is a modern, family friendly service held in the Gathering Grounds and not in the main Church building and is and very casual filled with kids and a lot of fun. View all our events and service times here.
Absolutely! An to help parents and little ones we’ve designed the 9.45am and Messy Church services for families, young adults and children of all ages. Kids from 4 to 13 stay with you for the first 20 mins and attend Sunday Group halfway through and there is also a soft play area with toys for toddlers and babies in the service so you don’t need to leave (even for those little tantrums!) and the services are designed around young adults too so there is something for all.
People of any faith background or none are most welcome in Kilternan and communicant members of other Christian churches may receive Holy Communion in the Church of Ireland. It’s the Lord’s table, not the churches, so all are invited to receive. If you have any questions we’d love to help and you can contact us here.
We would love to have you join us. The first step is to have a chat with the rector Rev Rob. You can schedule a coffee or call here.
There is a ramp into the church, and a loop system for those with hearing aids. There is not a specific wheelchair space, but there is plenty of room in the isle. If you need any assistance, please let the church wardens know.
